UNITED COLLEGE ACTION NETWORK, Inc. (U-CAN) PRESENTS IT’S
17TH ANNUAL HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGE RECRUITMENT FAIR
SEPTEMBER 11– 17, 2016 IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
SEPTEMBER 18-22, 2016 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA’S “INLAND EMPIRE”
AND SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
The United College Action Network, Inc. (U-CAN), of Sacramento announces their upcoming Seventeenth Annual Black College Recruitment Fair.
U-CAN President Alan H. Rowe states, “Last year’s Northern and Southern California college fairs drew more than 30,000 students and parents statewide, including Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas). The College Fair was an overwhelming success with many students receiving on-the-spot admissions and scholarship offers.” Barbara Evans, Program Administrator, anticipate this year’s fairs attendance will draw well over 30,000 participants. The attendance projection is contributed to this year’s college fair expansion and outreach to the Antioch Unified School District (northern California) with invitations extended to their neighboring school districts, coupled with the return of four major ‘Inland Empire” (southern California) school districts-Fontana USD, Rialto USD, Moreno Valley USD, and San Bernardino City USD, joining the
fair again for their third season.
Official representatives from 30-40 of the country’s leading Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will be recruiting college-bound students on-site during the two-weeks event. Interested high school and college students will have the opportunity to receive preliminary “on-the-spot” admissions, scholarships, financial aid information and face-to-face exposure with many of the most respected historically black institutions of higher learning within the United States.
A partial list of participating colleges includes: Alcorn State University, Bennett College, Benedict College, Bethune-Cookman University, Clark Atlanta University, Dillard University, Fisk University, Florida A&M State University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Langston University, Lincoln University, MO, Livingstone College, Miles College, Morgan State University, Savannah State University, Shaw University, Spelman College, Stillman College, Talladega College, Tougaloo College, Texas Southern University, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University, Wilberforce University, Wiley College and Xavier University of Louisiana, among many other colleges and universities. Each college fair event is free and open to the public and all students.
Students who wish to apply and qualify for “on-the-spot” admissions and scholarships should bring an official transcript, if available, and a copy of their ACT/SAT test scores, if taken, for each college application they plan to complete. All high school and community college students and their parents will not want to miss this annual college planning event and opportunity. This event is open to all students.
